HUTCHINSON - A Hutchinson woman riding in a car with a Nickerson man was injured Thursday afternoon during a pursuit by law enforcement, the Kansas Highway Patrol reports.
The accident occurred at 4 p.m. at 1700 N Adams in the city of Hutchinson.
A 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Deven K. Mongahan, 24, of Nickerson, was being pursued by two county deputies. The vehicles were traveling south on Adams when Mongahan turned into a private residence to turn around, but as he was turning around, the Nissan struck a patrol car. At the same time, passenger Megan Strawn, 18, of Hutchinson, started to exit the car, while Mongahan started to reverse, side-swiping the second patrol vehicle and pinning Strawn between the two vehicles. The car then struck a house.
Mongahan was not wearing a seat belt but was not injured. The car was removed by Lyon’s Wrecker Service to a tow lot.
The officers were driving a 2010 Dodge Charger and a 2014 Ford Taurus. Their names were not released.
