Road conditions in the Barton County area are becoming hazardous due to freezing rain. Roadways are becoming slick especially on bridges and overpasses. Driving should be discouraged unless necessary and if traveling, drivers should proceed with extreme caution. Information from Barton County Communications/911

Icy road conditions are believed to have caused a three-car crash reported at 2:26 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 56 east of Great Bend near the Fort Zarah park.
One person suffered critical injuries. The conditions of the other persons were unknown as of presstime.
One vehicle rolled over and was on its top, and another vehicle had heavy front-end damage. Condition of third vehicle was unknown.
Barton County Sheriff’s office, and the Great Bend Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services crews were assisting at the scene.
The wreck caused the entire road to be blocked off by local law enforcement agencies.
Kansas Department of Transportation was also notified.
