PAWNEE COUNTY– A head-on crash in Pawnee County Friday night injured three area residents, all of whom were taken to hospitals, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported Saturday.

According to the KHP, at just after 8 p.m. a 2007 Chevy Tahoe driven by Marissa S. Doctor, 15, of Larned, was westbound on U.S. 56 just west of County Road J. “For an unknown reason,” she crossed the center line and struck a 2009 Ford Escape driven by Erika S. Roman, 24, of Great Bend, head-on in the eastbound lane.

Emergency Medical Services transported Doctor to University of Kansas Health System Great Bend Campus in Great Bend with suspected minor injuries, Roman to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with suspected serious injuries, and a passenger in the Ford, Brittany Roman Velasquez, 18,  of Great Bend, to Hays Medical Center in Hays with suspected serious injuries.

Erika Roman was not wearing a seat belt, but Doctor and Brittany Roman were, according to the KHP. There was one juvenile in the Doctor vehicle and two in the Roman vehicle, but their records were “protected data.”
