On Monday, Oct. 15, at the Hoisington Novice Debate Tournament, the Great Bend High School debate squad had four novice teams compete. Three teams placed and all were undefeated with a perfect three and zero win/loss record. Jordan Otten and Kameko Schultz placed first with perfect speaker points. Sarah Keller and Mallorie McNett placed fourth and Kimberly Gonzalez and Donovan Salgado placed sixth. “Out of my previous tournaments, I felt I did awful, but after placing at the Hoisington Tournament, it boosted my confidence. I am really looking forward to entering more tournaments.” Salgado stated. The GBHS debate group won six medals and competed against 46 teams, from 15 different schools. Marissa Hoisington also attended the tournament as a judge for Great Bend. The Great Bend debate squad will travel to the huge Valley Center Tournament this Saturday.
