Tornado warnings canceled

Reports of tornadoes and hail in the Barton County area began shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, but the storm had weakened by 6:30.

At 4:53 p.m., the National Weather Service reported a tornado that was confirmed by law enforcement was located near Great Bend, moving north at 30 mph. Barton County residents were warned of a possible tornado and golf ball size hail.
The storm was expected to be near Hoisington around 5:05 p.m. Other locations impacted included Cheyenne Bottoms and Susank.
There was another tornado warning for northeast Barton County at 5:45 p.m. after radar indicated rotation. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Hoisington, moving northeast at 25 mph.
There were also flood warnings for Pawnee County.
The Barton County tornado warning for Hoisington, Claflin and Odin was canceled at 6:25 p.m. after the storm which prompted the warning weakened below severe limits.
