A traffic stop near Lincoln Elementary School Thursday afternoon led to the arrest of a Larned woman on drug charges, Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir said Friday.
At about 3:30 p.m., Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputy Nicholas Katzenmeier stopped a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban for a traffic infraction in the 1600 block of Patton Road. During the course of the stop, Sheriff’s Office K9 Maxx was deployed to conduct a sniff around the vehicle.
Maxx indicated the odor of illegal substances in the vehicle and further investigation was conducted. Upon searching the vehicle, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located inside, the sheriff said.
The driver, Brandy Zuege, age 26 of Larned, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was transported to the Barton County Jail without incident. She is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
