Kansas Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle injury crash at 5:20 p.m. on Friday, December 21, in Rice County. Vehicles collided at the intersection of Avenue J and 28th Road, 2 miles east of Little River.

A Ford F-250 pickup driven by Rex Ramage, 53, of Collinsville, Okla., pulled away north-bound from a stop sign and was hit by a westbound Ford F-250 Super Duty truck driven by Bryce Sears, 19, of Little River in a side-swipe manner at the front of the vehicle. The Sears truck entered the northwest ditch, overturned and came to rest on the driver’s side on J Road facing south. The Ramage vehicle came to rest on the north side of the intersection on 28th Road.

Ramage was wearing a seat belt and had no apparent injury.

Sears was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with a suspected serious injury and his passenger, Arnulfo Rios, 16, also of Little River, was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with a suspected serious injury. Sears had been wearing a seat belt but Rios had not.
