Work will start soon on guardrail reconstruction on U.S. 183 in Rush County.

The project will occur at various sites on a 12-mile segment from the south city limits of La Crosse to the Rush/Ellis County line. The work is expected to start in La Crosse and move north.

The project is expected to begin Thursday, Oct. 1, and be completed around mid-November, depending on the weather.

During the project, traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic signals and restricted to one lane. Motorists should be prepared to slow down for the work zone.

The Kansas Department of Transportation is overseeing the work.

L&M Contractors Inc. of Great Bend is the primary contractor for the $178,953 project.
