The Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at the District Education Center, 201 S. Patton Road. The board’s usual meeting date was changed because of a conflict.
Items on the agenda include recognition of Jordan Brough, a fifth grade student at Jefferson Elementary School who recently won the Barton County Spelling Bee; first reading of the 2016-17 student and teacher handbooks, as well as the activities and athletics handbooks; and approval to purchase Chromebook carts and sell used computers.
Curriculum and instruction matters include presentations with recommendations for adoption from the 7-12 Math Department and from the 9-12 Foreign Language Department, as well as information about a Title IIA supplemental grant of $1,532 for teacher training to implement a Transition to College Algebra course.
There will be a report on summer projects for buildings and grounds; approval of donations and grant application submissions; and personnel retirements and appointments.
