USD 431 special called meeting held

HOISINGTON -- On Tuesday, May 24, the USD 431 Board of Eduction met in a special called meeting at 5:30 p.m. Notice of the meeting was provided to The Great Bend Tribune at around 4:30 p.m. that day.
Items on the agenda included a travel request, resignations, contracts, and approval of supplemental positions.
According to Bonnie Smith, USD 431 Clerk, who responded to a request for information from the Tribune, the board approved a bus request from the Storm Track Team for a trip on June 2-5, provided they can produce a driver.
The board also accepted the following resignations: Dennis Poland, MS Instructor, Deanna Ochs, MS Secretary, Bailey Streit as Roosevelt Aide, Kerry Mooney as Boys Asst. Tennis Coach and Abby Morrison as MS Asst Volleyball Coach and MS Girls Basketball Coach.
The following contracts were extended by the board: Karisa Cowan for Seventh Grade Language Arts and Eighth Grade Earth Science , replacing Poland’s position, and Mark Berends for High School Industrial Arts.
Supplemental positions were approved for the Summer Weight Room program to Zach Baird, Bob Brungardt, Kyle Haxton, and Mandy Mason and Robert England as HS Asst. Football Coach for 2016-17.
No other discussions or actions were reported. The next regular meeting of the USD 431 Board of Education will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 6 at the District Office.
