UWCK goal met
gbtribune news

The United Way of Central Kansas Board of Directors announced that UWCK has reached its goal of $275,000.
With the support of friends, families and neighbors, the nonprofit agency was able to exceed its goal and guarantee its ability to distribute funds to 23 Community Partners in Barton and Pawnee counties, according to a news release from Gaila Demel, UWCK director.
“With 99 percent of the funds raised staying local, reaching this goal is vitally important to keeping our communities strong and supporting those who need a lift up. Raising this amount of money is no small feat and takes a team to see it come to fruition.”
The Workplace Campaign accounts for over half of all the monies raised, with the remainder coming from event sponsorships and donations sent in to support the cause.
“This could not have been accomplished without the support of more than 60 businesses who allow UWCK to present to them each year and who encourage their employees to make a small donation from their payroll each month. This truly does show that when we are united, a small amount can go a long way. UWCK would like to thank all those business and individuals who sponsor events throughout the year that help us to reach their goal. Every sponsorship means that more of the money raised at events can go to supporting Community Partners.”
Anyone who would like to support UWCK in its efforts to create stronger communities may mail donations to 1125 Williams, Great Bend, KS 67530. Tickets are also now on sale for the 2019 Campaign Kickoff Event which will be on Aug. 18. Join UWCK volunteers as they “Step Up To The Plate” with an evening full of ball park food and drinks, followed up by the returning entertainment of Curtis the Mentalist.
