The Great Bend High School A Cappella Choir, directed by Susan Stambaugh and accompanied by Lorrie Stickney, rehearses selections from Vespers, Friday at the GBHS Auditorium. The 82nd annual Vespers Concert will be Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m.

The traditional sights and sounds of the holidays will delight concert goers at the annual Vespers Concert scheduled for Sunday, December 9 at 2 p.m. at the Great Bend High School Auditorium located at 2027 Morton St. The community is invited to attend this free concert.

For the past 25 years, Susan Stambaugh has directed the A Cappella Choir in a tradition-rich concert that ushers in the holiday season for the community. The over 50 person choir represents thousands of choral members who have participated in the tradition since the first performance in 1936, 82 years ago.

“Vespers tells the Christmas story through both narration and song,” said Molly Kaiser, A Cappella Choir and GBHS senior class member. “I’m proud to be a part of this tradition for a second year and to share the meaningful music with the community.”

Vespers will be followed by the USD 428 Youth Choir’s holiday performance at 3:30 p.m. at the GBHS Auditorium.
