St. John gets snow

The National Weather Service in Dodge City issused a winter weather advisory for Pawnee, Stafford and Hodgeman counties, Friday including the cities of Larned, Stafford, St. John, Hudson, Hanston and Jetmore. All counties south of Barton and Rice County are affected.
The winter weather advisory for snow and isolated sleet is in effect until 11 p.m. Friday. Snow accumulations betweern 3 to 5 inches are forecast. Snow-packed roads will lead to hazardous driving  conditions. One-half inch of snow has fallen in St. John. Sun City in Barber County has received 1.5 inches of snow.
A winter weather advisory means that snow will cause travel difficulties. Drivers should be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a winter storm warning for an eight county area in southwest Kansas that includes Ulysses, Garden City, Dodge City and Liberal.
A winter storm warning remains in effect until 11 p.m. Friday. Snow will persist through 11 p.m.
Snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches are forecast. Snow-packed roads will lead to hazardous driving conditions. Blowing and drifting snow will be common due to 15 to 25 mph north winds.
At midday Friday, Hugoton had received 5 inches of snow; Satanta 4 inches; 3 inches for Meade and Sublette and 2 inches for Pratt, Dodge City and Ulysses.
Moderate to heavy snow will exist along a mid level frontal zone. The frontal zone will remain nearly stationary through the day which will allow a small area of heavy snow accumulations to occur.
A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible.  This will make travel very hazardous or impossible. Moderate to heavy snow today and Friday evening...
