Wondra files for reelection as treasurer

Barton County Treasurer Kevin Wondra has filed for reelection to a second full term as County Treasurer. Wondra was first elected to the office in October 2007 by the Republican Precinct committee to complete the term of the retired Jan Karlin. He then won election to a full term in November 2008.
Wondra is a lifetime resident of Barton County and is the son of Arthur and Mary Ann Wondra. He has been married to his wife Teresa for 11 years and they have two children and three grandchildren. He is a graduate of Hutchinson Community College and Kansas State University with a Bachelors degree in Accounting.
He is a active member of the Great Bend Church of the Nazarene for the last 12 years, where he has been on the Church Board for nine years as either Church Board Secretary or Treasurer. He has also been involved in various Church drama productions and church events. Wondra is a twenty-two year member of the Great Bend Evening Lions Club, where he has served as Club President for two years and Club secretary/treasurer for nineteen. On the Kansas Lions State level, he has served as District Secretary for two years, District Treasurer for one year, District State Band chairman and Midwinter Rally Chairman. Wondra is the President of the Board of the Daniel R. Trickey Memorial Life Giving Center in Great Bend and serves on Great Bend’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
The primary duties of the Barton County Treasurer is to oversee the collection of real estate, personal property, intangible and motor vehicle taxes for Barton County and the cities, townships, school districts and other taxing jurisdictions within Barton County. The Treasurer’s office then distributes these taxes to the local taxing units.
