World War II veteran honored
WW II veteran Robert Seltmann quilt 2019

United States Army Air Force World War II veteran Robert Seltmann was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on October 16, 2019, at his home in Nakoma, Kansas. Robert enlisted in September 1942 and served until September 1945 as a medic and ambulance driver. He was stationed in Portland, Oregon, for a year and was then sent to England, France and Germany during the war. Seltmann was a member of the 356th Fighter Group. The quilt top was made by Phyllis Manhart, quilting by Amy Schartz Mellor. Seltman is pictured with Mellor, left, and Manhart.
