The Barton County Young Professionals is re-branding in 2024. BYCP is now FUEL Barton County; “FUEL” stands for Focus, Unite, Engage and Lead.
The new brand was announced at the 102nd annual Great Bend Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet on Feb. 24, and again at last Thursday’s Chamber Coffee. FUEL BC is still a Chamber-sponsored program, said Chamber President Megan Barfield. But, “There are some exciting things to come.”
One of those things is more inter-generational networking. Prior to the re-branding, BCYP was described as “a free membership organization for anyone 21-40ish who lives or works in the Barton County area.” Last Saturday the group extended the “ish” for one night with a Casino Night that was open to anyone 21 years of age or older.
FUEL Barton County President Callie Miller said that in the next six months, the group hopes to roll out a mentorship program that pairs more seasoned professionals with its younger membership. Sponsors will look at ways to expand and bring in more mixers and events, as well as more leadership and professional options for its members.
The organization remains dedicated to fostering the personal and professional growth of young adults in Barton County. Through networking events, professional development workshops and community engagement initiatives, FUEL empowers its members to thrive in their careers and make a positive impact in the community.
The Facebook page “Barton County Young Professionals – BCYP” is still active. Questions may be emailed to fuelbc@greatbend.org.
BCYP was established in 2011 and has achieved significant milestones, including fundraising for playground equipment installation, organizing community service projects, events like the YP5K and Half Marathon, and launching a Personal Development series.
