Youth Turkey Hunt scheduled for Kanopolis Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at Kanopolis Lake will host its youth turkey hunt Saturday April 2, on public lands managed by USACE. The select number of hunts will take place inside of refuge and park areas that are usually closed to hunting.
The hunt will allow hunters 15 years of age or younger to be drawn from a pool of applicants to hunt in an assigned area. Hunters are required to have a mentor (18 yrs. or older) with a valid Kansas Hunting License to assist the youth during the hunt. If you do not have a mentor one may be provided.
All applicable Kansas hunting regulations apply and required tags pertaining to the youth turkey season will be required. Refer to the 2016 Kansas Hunting and Furharvesting Regulations Summary from Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.
Interested applicants can get an application by going to the USACE website, visiting USACE on facebook or stopping by their project office for a hard copy to fill out. The applications can be sent by email, fax or mail.
