GBPD arrest man on drug charges

Great Bend Police arrested a 42-year-old man Wednesday night on narcotics charges while responding to a report of a man with a flashlight in southeast Great Bend.

According to a Great Bend Police Department release, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Chestnut Street just before 11 p.m. They made contact with a man, identified as Eduardo Torres. During the encounter, Torres removed his hands from his pockets, dropping items to the ground. Officers located and secured a small bag reportedly containing a white powdery substance, another reportedly containing a green leafy vegetation, and a broken glass pipe. Officers field tested substances in each bag which field tested positive for suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.

Torres was transported to the Barton County Jail where he was booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia and held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
