A Barton County jury on Wednesday found Shawn Phillip Rosenberg of Great Bend guilty of one count of rape and one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor for illicit purposes.

Barton County Attorney Levi Morris said the jury trial lasted two and a half days and the jury barely deliberated for an hour before returning the verdict.

District Court Judge Carey Hipp presided over the trial and after the verdict she informed Rosenberg of his duty to register as a sex offender. Sentencing will be scheduled for a later date.

The State of Kansas was represented by Assistant Barton County Attorneys Colin Reynolds and Rita Sunderland. The defendant was represented by Ben Fisher.
