The driver of a 2018 Nissan Frontier sustained what were believed to be serious injuries on Tuesday when the vehicle crossed the center line of U.S. 183 in Pawnee County and collided with a 2000 Peterbilt semitrailer, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at 11:44 a.m. near the intersection with X Road.
The Nissan was driven by Chase Fairchild, 37, of Abilene, who was not wearing a safety restraint. He was taken to Hays Medical Center. The semi was driven by Justin Jarchow, 39, of Fairfield, Neb. He was wearing a seat belt and had no apparent injuries.
On Monday, 15-year-old Gunner A. Hulse from Lucas and 17-year-old Zachary J. Rose from Luray sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Lincoln County. KHP reports that crash occurred at 3:41 p.m. Monday on K-18.
A 2001 Ford pickup driven by Hulse was turning left from N 13th Road onto K-18 and failed to yield. The pickup was struck by a 2000 GMC pickup driven by Rose, who was westbound on K-18.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Gunner was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with suspected serious injuries and Rose was transported to the Lincoln County Hospital with suspected minor injuries.
