The Barton County Sheriff’s Office utilized K-9 Maxx on a traffic stop that ended in an arrest around 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, just south of Great Bend.

According to Sheriff Brian Bellendir, deputies conducted the traffic stop on U.S. 281 near mile marker 103. It was discovered that the driver, Triston Hogan Maas Rader, 29, from Pratt had outstanding warrants through Barton County District Court for felony theft. Rader was placed under arrest on the warrant and BCSO K9 Maxx was deployed. The dog indicated the presence of controlled substances and a subsequent search revealed suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Rader was transported to the Barton County Jail without incident and booked on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and no valid driver’s license as well as the Barton County District Court warrant. Rader has since posted a $10,000 bond on the drug charges and the $5,000 bond on the warrant. Rader has been booked at the Barton County Jail nine times since 2015, Bellendir noted.
