Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made six ambulance runs Friday, two Saturday and six Sunday.
At 6:06 a.m. Saturday, units responded to 121 SE 40 Road for an electrical pole on fire. The homeowner said the electricity went out so he went outside and found a telephone pole with the top broken off and sitting on top of a transformer. The pole had embers but the fire was confined to the pole. The electric company was contacted.
At 3:16 p.m. Sunday, units were paged to 2210 25th for a possible fire in the garage. There was no fire, but they did see an outside electrical outlet with blacking around it on the siding. The electricity was shut off from the breaker box until the power company arrived. The homeowner had been working on the wiring earlier in the day and it was determined a short had occurred.
At 3:13 a.m. Monday, units responded to 356 North U.S. 281 for natural gas leak. They found a relief valve leaking. Gas was shut off until the gas company arrived to repair the meter.
Great Bend Police
A burglary was reported Friday at 1600 E. Lakin Ave. Tools were stolen and the building was damaged.
Vehicles driven by Diana Dimitt and Nolan Howell collided at 10:53 a.m. Friday in the 1400 block of Main.
A domestic call in the 2900 block of 14th St. resulted in an aggravated battery case.
A vehicle was damaged at Great Bend High School.
An aggravated battery case was taken Friday night at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Cade Henry was arrested.
Three tires on a vehicle at 2515 Quivira Ave. were slashed, it was reported Saturday.
A burglary was reported Sunday at 2814 23rd St. Someone broke into the residence and took numerous items.
At 9:16 a.m. Sunday, a victim in the 1600 block of Baker Ave. reported being battered by an unknown subject.
Barton County Sheriff
On Friday a Barton County resident reported an attempted fraud after receiving two calls from someone posing as an Internal Revenue Service agent who told her she needed to pay money. No loss was reported.
A car hit a deer at 8:24 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of North U.S. 281.
A battery was reported at 8:52 p.m. Friday at the jail. A victim suffered head and face trauma.
A motorist reported being rear-ended by another vehicle at 10:24 p.m. Friday at NE 30 Road and U.S. 281.
Someone reportedly broke into a trailer Friday night at 4 NW 30 Road.
