GREAT BEND — Almeda Regina (Kuhn) Stecklein, 84, of Great Bend and a former longtime Munjor resident, passed away Feb. 3, 2012 at Great Bend Health and Rehab Center.
Born March 21, 1927 in Victoria on the family farm , she was the daughter of Joseph J. And Anna (Hammerschmidt) Kuhn.
On Feb. 4, 1961, she married Nicholas “Nick” Stecklein in Victoria. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2006. She was a homemaker and enjoyed bingo, needle work, jig saw puzzles and dancing. Mrs. Steckelein wad a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Munjor.
Survivors include a daughter, Jolene Marie Stecklein, Great Bend; a sister, Lorene Miller, Stockton; two sisters-in-law, Otillia Kuhn, Victoria; and Sylvia Stecklein, Pratt; special family friend and neighbor, Ed Richey, Great Bend; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Alfred and Edward Kuhn; and a sister, Viola Popp.
A parish vigil service is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brock’s North Hill Chapel, Hays. Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Munjor. Burial will be at the St. Francis Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, all at Brock’s North Hill Chapel, Hays.
