Betty Miller Sack

Betty Miller Sack, 90, passed away May 28, 2022, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born June 26, 1931, at St. Louis, Mo., to Raymond and Hilda (Weirch) Drake. Betty married Lee Miller Oct. 4, 1949, and later divorced. She then married Leroy Sack Oct. 1, 1983, at Great Bend. He survives.    Betty, a resident of Great Bend since 1956 coming from Gove County, was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was a bookkeeper and secretary for Chase Well Service, Darnell Truck Service and the Credit Union, and not being afraid of hard work, ironed and sold Avon in her younger years. She enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center, bowling until her health would not allow, and was committed to praying the Rosary. Betty made her children a priority and cherished time with her grandchildren, traveling to all of their events and activities. 

Survivors include her husband Leroy Sack; one son, Robert Miller of Shawnee; two daughters, Cathy Peacock of Las Vegas, Nev. and Pam Miller Finley of Great Bend; two brothers, Kenneth Drake and wife Barbara of Hazleton, Pa., and Chuck Frederich and wife Louise of Spring Branch, Texas; step son, David Sack and wife Lana of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by a brother, Raymond “Jr.” Drake; sister, Delores Ferrao and her husband Warren; son in law, David Peacock; step daughter Debbie Sack; one grandson, Wesley Turnball; and Lee Miller’s brother and wife, Harold and Dorothy Miller.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 2, at Bryant Funeral Home, with an Altar Society Rosary at 4 p.m. and Vigil at 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to Holy Family School Endowment Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
