LARNED – Charles Harlan “Ske” Skelton, 90, passed away May 24, 2022 at Hays Medical Center, Hays.
He was born Aug. 24, 1931 in Larned, the son of Nelse N. and Mary Ruth Hazel Combs Skelton. A lifetime Larned resident, he was a retired electrician for the City of Larned, where he worked for 25 years.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Noon Lions Club, was a Volunteer Fireman for the Larned Fire Department for 20-plus years, all of Larned. He enjoyed coin collecting, golf, doing crossword puzzles and loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. He also served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
On June 11, 1952 he married MaryAlice in Larned. She survives.
Other survivors include: son, Jay (Beth) Skelton, Perry, Kan.; two daughters, Janene (Steven) Soeken, Ellinwood, Karan (Keith) Rudolph, Montgomery, AL; brother, Jack (Connie) Skelton, Larned; seven grandchildren, Jon (Karren) Skelton, Nicole (Mike) Cloud, Joshua Skelton (Melissa), Heather (Travis Maley) Skelton, Kirstie (Scott) Wuerdeman, Adam (Kylee) Soeken, Craig (Kate) Soeken; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Skelton, Neal Skelton, and three sisters, Mary Brothers, Ruth Deckert and Hazel Callahan.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2022 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Ryan Webster presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, with military graveside rites.
