Claire Billie Hadley 1932 - 2013

HOISINGTON — Claire Billie Hadley, 80, died on March 16 at Southwind Hospice in Pratt. Born Dec. 19, 1932 in Escanaba, Mich., she was the daughter of William and Wava (Snow) Sargent. On Jan. 21, 1950 she married Ray C. Hadley in Guthrie, Okla. He died on Feb. 21, 2006. A Barton County resident since 1963,coming from Wichita, she was the secretary for her and her husband’s business, Hadley Roofing Company.
Mrs. Hadley was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, EHU, and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed quilting, oil painting, playing the piano and organ, and loved animals.
Survivors include one son, Curtis Hadley and his wife Patricia of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Susan Wendel and her husband George of Great Bend and Tammy Alexander and her husband Tod of Mullinville; six grandchildren, Audra Staab of Emporia, Jared Wendel of Overland Park, Benjamin Long of St. John, Brandon Long of Hutchinson, Burke Long of Hays, and Meredith Thornhill of Fruita, Colo.; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Sargent.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with Chaplain Jerry Hodges officiating. Burial will be at the Hoisington Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Memorials are suggested to Living Waters for the World to aid missionaries, or the Hoisington Veterinary Clinic for stray animals, in care of the funeral home.
