PAULS VALLEY, Okla. — Darrell C. Mayhew, 76, of Pauls Valley, Okla., passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, on Oct. 28. He was born May 25, 1934, in Plainville, Kan., to Chalmer and Ann (Cerrow) Mayhew. He married Beverly (Collis) Mayhew on April 20, 1957 in El Paso, Texas. Darrell served in the U.S. Army in Fort Bliss, Texas, 1956-1957, serving two TDY tours in Puerto Rico, in 1957-1958. After an honorable discharge he worked in the oilfield supply business. This took him from Kansas to Oklahoma, to Colorado, Texas and back to Oklahoma. He retired from Oilwell Supply in 1988 and M & M Supply in 1999.

He enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting with family and friends. He also enjoyed camping and boating, in which he taught many church kids to water ski during summer camp while a member of Central Baptist Church in Great Bend. He also enjoyed gardening and sharing his bounty with friends. The Mayhews were former residents of Ellinwood for many years until 1980, when they returned to Oklahoma.

He was a current member of Trinity Baptist Church in Pauls Valley, where he had a loving church family and enjoyed working for the church. He enjoyed spreading the word of God with everyone he came into contact with.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, of 53 years; one son, Creig and his wife Mary of Oklahoma City, Okla.,; and one daughter, Tammy and her husband Duane Hiss, of Hoehne, Colo. He had five grandchildren, which were pure joy to his heart, Amanda Hiss, Megan Hiss, Taylor Hiss, Stephanie Mayhew and Clinton Mayhew, also surviving are four sisters, Jean Wright of Winnetka, Ill., Jennie and her husband Paul Longnecker, Santa Rosa, Calif., Betty Edson and Charlotte Hays, both of Plainville, one brother, Delmer and his wife Bonnie Mayhew, Damascus, Mary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Gladys Cerrow, and brother, Roy Mayhew. He was also preceded in death by infant Eula LaRee, baby Corrinne, and infant triplets, Dorothy Ann, Doris Mae and Donald Dean.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Baptist Church in Pauls Valley, officiated by Bro. Tim Bowen and Ryan Willis. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Interment and professional services are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
