Diana Lee Hermansen. 72, died Nov. 29, at home in Great Bend. Born March 9, 1940 at Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of William Lloyd and Wanda Marie (Albright) Ringstrom
Diana married Thomas Allen Hermansen December 26, 1959 at Pico Rivera, California. He died October 21, 2011.
She was a homemaker, volunteer, and human interest advocate.
Mrs. Hermansen was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 1970 coming from Lincoln, Neb. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, CASA, Wagon Wheels, was a former president of League of Women Voters, and was a former president and secretary of the Great Bend Public Library Board. She also helped organize the Oscar Micheaux Memorial Fund which helped mark the Great Bend gravesite of the first black film maker.
She is survived by two sons, Eric Hermansen of La Grange, Ky. and Mark Hermansen and wife Kristine, of Great Bend; one daughter, Karen Jones and companion Mike Burgess of Great Bend; one sister, Mary Black and five grandchildren.
A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend, with Rev. Dr. Scott Solether officiating. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
