STAFFORD — Donald Gene Newell, 63, died March 16 at the Stafford County Hospital. Born April 28, 1949 in Stafford, he was the son of Donald Gene and Dorothy Marenchin Newell. A lifetime Stafford resident, he was a farmer. On May 28, 1978 he married Debra J. Witt in Hudson. She died on Dec. 2, 2007. He then married Jenny Fox Kisner on Aug. 24 in Great Bend.
Mr. Newell served in the Kansas Air National Guard.
Survivors include, his wife, Jenny; son, Dr. Bradley J. Newell of Andover; his mother, Dorothy Newell; two step-daughters, Kayli Kisner and Kristin Kisner; two brothers, David Newell and Duane Newell; a sister, Dorothy Ann Caley; and two step-grandchildren, Eric and Destiny Shelton.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Trinity Community Church in Hudson with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. Preceding the memorial service, there will be a private burial at Trinity Cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday at Minnis Chapel in Stafford. Memorials may be sent to Friends of Quivira in care of the chapel.
