Doris June McFarren, 84, died Dec. 1, 2016, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka. Born Oct. 31, 1932, at Brownell, she was the daughter of John and Bertha (Foos) Helwig. On Nov. 30, 1950, she married Clayton McFarren at Bazine. He died Feb. 23, 2010. A Great Bend resident since 1972, coming from Dighton, Mrs. McFarren was a grocery store clerk and bookkeeper for McFarren Motors.
Survivors include five sons, Terry McFarren and his wife Kathy of Great Bend, Marlin McFarren and his wife Lorna of Topeka, Curtis McFarren and his wife Trudi of Hays, Kelly McFarren of Tulsa, Okla., and Shane McFarren of Kansas City; five grandchildren, Troy, Travis, Matt, Aimee and Klayton; six step-grandchildren, Jeni, Karina, Katrina, Bethany, Brittany and Courtney; and 13 great-grandchildren, Trey, Trenton, Tyler, Makayla, Ayden, Rylee, Kennedy, Brianna, Kaden, Kodie, Cooper, Katie and Frankie. She was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Mai.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials are requested to Elder Care, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net
