CUNNINGHAM — Edyth Catherine Mavity, 97, died Oct. 15 at Kingman Community Hospital in Kingman. She was born Feb. 5, 1913, in Norcatur, the daughter of Clarence Leo and Ethel (Stevens) Ward.
On Dec. 24, 1931, she married Joseph B. Mavity at Norcatur. He preceded her in death in April 1997. In 2001 she moved from Norcatur to Cunningham.
Mrs. Mavity had worked as a clerk of the district court in Barton County and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Great Bend, Cunningham United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She is survived by two sons, Jay Mavity of Cunningham and Fay Mavity of Lochbuie, Colo.; a daughter, Judy Jo Elits of Fresno, Calif.; five grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven stepgreat-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, a daughter-in-law, Betty Mavity, a granddaughter, Jackie, four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt, from 1 to 8 p.m. today and Monday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Cunningham United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Stapleton presiding. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Norcatur Cemetery in Norcatur.
