EDMOND, Okla. — Elsie Keil Herber, 95, died on Feb. 16, at Edmond, Okla. She was born Dec. 5, 1915, at Galatia, the daughter of Benjamin and Bertha Strecker Keil. She grew up and attended school in the Galatia, Milberger area. She worked for many years as a housekeeper in Russell. On May 9, 1970, she married Raymond Herber and they resided in Wilson, until his death on November 14, 1992. After his death, she moved to Edmond, Okla. to be close to her son and his family.
She is survived by her son, Gerald (Jerry) and wife Karen Keil of Edmond; and three grandchildren, Mishelle and husband Rusty Handy, Keli and husband Dan Bennett, and Jeff Keil; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Leland and wife Roberta Keil of Galatia, and Glenn and wife Helen Keil of Russell; three sisters, Thelma Gross of Hays, LaFern Trent of Russell, and Alean and husband Darrell Sanders of Wells. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Clarence Keil and Wayne Keil, and two sisters, Lucile Karst Hall and Clarnetta Brainerd. Cremation has preceded the graveside services which will be held March 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Galatia Cemetery, Galatia. A luncheon for family and friends will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Galatia.
