Ersa L. Keenan, 81, passed away July 7, 2022, at Brookdale East in Wichita. She was born on April 5, 1941, in Great Bend, to Frank & Ersa (Cross) Koelsch. She married Johnny R. Keenan on May 23, 1966, in Great Bend.  He died March 5, 2015.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Ersa was an insurance clerk for several doctors in town including, Dr. Cavanaugh, Dr. Holt and Dr. Schuetz. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Ersa was an avid golfer and baseball fan, she also enjoyed watching her Kansas City Chiefs.  

Survivors include, a son, Mike S. Keenan of Manhattan; two brothers, Frank Koelsch of Ellinwood and James Koelsch and wife Nora of Clearwater. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnny R. Keenan; and an infant brother, Vaughn Koelsch.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Altar Society Rosary at 4:00 p.m., and a Vigil service with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 11, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. A private family interment at Lakin Comanche Cemetery, Ellinwood, will take place prior to the Mass. Memorials have been designated to the Alzheimer’s Association (to benefit dementia research), in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
