Frieda L. Callaway 1922 - 2014

HOISINGTON — Frieda L. Callaway, 92, died Feb. 17, at Country Place Senior Living in Hoisington. Born Feb. 15, 1922, in Galatia, she was the daughter of David and Marie (Reichert) Herbel. A lifelong resident of Hoisington, she was a homemaker. On Sept. 25, 1942, she married David “Cab” Callaway. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1970. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and spending time with her family.  
Mrs. Callaway was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hoisington, Women of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, EHU Chapter, N.A.R.V.E, Young at Heart exercise group, and was a girl scout leader.
Survivors include two daughters, Valarie Knight and husband Jerry of Ozark, Mo., and Christie Callaway of Branson, Mo.; one sister, Janet Smith of Hoisington; one brother-in-law, Clayton Karst of Hoisington; four grandchildren, David Bockman of Branson, Mo., Kylee McDonald of Hoisington, Ammie San Paolo of Branson, Mo., and Christopher Mullin of Kansas City; three great-grandchildren, Kyler, Bralynn, and Trevyn; and numerous nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harry Herbel and Eddie Herbel; and four sisters, Marie Herbel, Marie Buffington, Lydia Ochs, and Hilda Karst.  
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hoisington with the Reverend Steven R. Little officiating. Burial will follow at the Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, with family present from 6 until 8 p.m., at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington.
