Genevieve Jennie Alefs 1919-2012

Genevieve “Jennie” Alefs, 92, died surrounded by her family, on Oct. 25, 2012 at Country Place Senior Living, Hoisington. She was born Nov. 15, 1919 at St. Leo, the daughter of Joseph and Appolonia Thresia (Schommer) Schulte.
She married Daniel Jacob Alefs, Jr. April 5, 1941 at Great Bend.  He died March 20, 1983. She was a homemaker and a former clerk at J. C. Penney and Small World.
Mrs. Alefs was a Great Bend, resident since 1941, coming from Anthony. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Daughters of Isabella, all of Great Bend.
She is survived by three sons, Danny Alefs and wife Paula of Wichita, Gary Alefs and wife Melinda of Wichita and Kenny Alefs and wife Lora of Great Bend; four daughters, Judy Mullins and  husband Jim of Lawrence, Connie Glenn and husband George of Tulsa, Okla., Linda Rambin and husband Ron of Tulsa, Okla. and Lana Wolf and husband Steve of Great Bend; and 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
The Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28 at Bryant Funeral Home. Vigil Service with Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28, at Bryant Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 29 at  St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Celebrant  Father Don Bedore.
Interment will be in Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Kans for Kids, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
