Gerald J. "Jerry" Christiansen, 84, died Jan. 18 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. He was born June 13, 1926, at Barton County, the son of Ralph and Elsie (Ewing) Christiansen. He married Alice Nadine Amerine on July 14, 1946, at Great Bend. She died Dec. 12, 2010. He was a mechanic for Manweiler Chevrolet and later opened Jerry’s Repair. He was a lifetime Great Bend resident.
Mr. Christiansen was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of the Christian faith. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111, where he was past commander; American Legion Argonne Post 180, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 646.
Survivors include one son, Gary Christiansen and wife Judy of Great Bend; one daughter, Kathy Hansen and husband Mike of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Shawn Christiansen and Nick Christiansen and wife Candis, all of Great Bend, Todd Edmundson and wife Angie of Golden, Colo., and Sage Edmundson and Jamie Hansen, both of Lincoln; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Private family inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend, at a later late. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
