ODIN — Hubert J. Steiner, 92, died Feb. 13, at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Jan. 31, 1922, in Hoisington, he was the son of Joseph and Burga (Kinzel) Steiner. A lifelong Barton County resident, he graduated from Hoisington High School. On Sept. 14, 1948, he married Loretta Schneider in Olmitz. Hubert was a farmer, stockman and also ran a bulldozer for the Cheyenne Township for many years. He enjoyed goose hunting and spending time with his family.
Mr. Steiner was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both in Odin.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Steiner of the home; one son, Joseph Daniel Steiner of Katy, Texas; two daughters, Helen Jeanne Oglesby and husband Dan of Lincoln, Ala. and Lisa Rookstool and husband Robert of Clay Center; three sisters, Jeanette Shields and husband Emerson of St. John, Joan Steiner-Adler of California, and Judy Wondra and husband Jerome of Odin; six grandchildren, Hope Rickman, Jason Steiner, Michael Steiner, Ethan Steiner, Annie Steiner, and Bobbi Rookstool; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jim Steiner.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Odin with Father Louis Trung Hohng as celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary beginning at 7 p.m., at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington.
