LARNED — Imogene Eileen Avery Eilers, 86, died on Aug. 28 after a brief illness. Born Aug. 30, 1925 in Larned, she was the daughter of Brian Jennings Avery and Edna May Keller Avery Buhrer. In 1945, she married August E. Eilers from Missouri. They divorced in 1958. A resident of Larned for 30 years, she was employed at Larned State Hospital, retiring in 1986. She moved to Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and to Hawthorne, Fla. in 1999.
Ms. Eilers was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and local garden clubs.
Survivors include four children, Sherry Wornkey and Ronald Eilers, both of Florida, Deborah McCart of Clovis, N.M. and Diana McCord of Hawthorne, Fla.; son-in-law, Roger Barker; brother, Dean Avery; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Jacob K. Buhrer; brother Dale Avery; daughter Gloria Jean Eilers Barker; and granddaughter Jennifer Eilers Jefferies.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Larned Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Haven Hospice 4200 NW 90th Blvd. Gainesville, FL. 32606.
