BURDETT — James “Jim” Henry Nuckolls, 85, died Nov. 3 at Edwards County Hospital in Kinsley. Born Aug. 11, 1927, in rural Burdett, he was the son of Joseph Charles and Elsie G. Winter Nuckolls. A life time resident of Burdett he was a retired farmer and custodian at Pawnee Heights High School. He married Helen J. Miller. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Nuckolls was a member of the Burdett United Methodist Church, and the Burdett American Legion both of Burdett. He was also a self taught musician who loved playing the piano, guitar and saxophone.
Survivors include, one son, Jimmy C. and wife Brenda Nuckolls of Florissant, Mo.; two daughters, Rhonda Bauer and husband Steve of Bel Aire, and Shelley Bauer and husband Brad, of Burdett; four sisters, Esther Shank of Greensburg, Mary Jo Perser of Hutchinson, Dorothy Nuckolls of Tucson, Ariz., and Ruth Sieverling of Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned. Burial will be at Browns Grove Cemetery in Burdett. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to Medicalodge of Kinsley in care of the funeral home.
