LARNED — James McGinness Jr. 80, entered his eternal rest on Aug. 1, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. He was born on Oct. 9, 1941 at Ava, Mo. to James and Bessie (Phillips) McGinness. He married Sharon Lloyd-May, on Dec. 25, 1975 at Tribune, Kan.
A Larned resident since 1981, coming from Great Bend, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned.
He was a devoted husband and father. The happiest moments of his life were spent with his family, and his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He cherished his four-legged “children”, Max, Coco, and Keesha.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ryan McGinness; his parents; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl (Cheryl) McGinness and Claude (Gloria) McGinness; a sister and brother-in-law, Judith (Harlan) Campbell. He is survived by his wife, of the home; his son, Tim McGinness; daughter, Michele (Michael) Pfortmiller, all of Larned; grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron) Winger, Lubbock, Texas; Nathanael Pfortmiller, McPherson, Kan.; Kimberly Pfortmiller, and Christian McGinness, both of Larned; a sister, Juanita (Joe) LeDesma, El Paso, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Bernard Felix presiding. Vigil service and Rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, Kan. Memorials may be given to Pawnee County Humane Society, Larned Food Pantry or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS 67550.
