TIMKEN — Janice Kay Folkerts, 77, passed away June 22, 2022, at Almost Home in Great Bend. She was born on May 20, 1945, at Great Bend, to Edwin and Margaret (Halda) Hemken. She married Leon John Folkerts April 29, 1972, in Albert.   

A lifetime Rush county resident, Janice was a paraprofessional for USD #428 and was very active on the farm. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Albert and the church ladies quilting society. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens but especially loved spending time with her family. 

Survivors include, her husband, Leon Folkerts of the home; a son, Jonathan Leon Folkerts of the home; a daughter, Christina Kay Folkerts and husband Randy Zellers of Wichita; two brothers, Edwin Hemkin, Jr. of Derby and Robert Hemken of Pawnee Rock; and four sisters, Joyce Hemken of Alvin, Texas, Dorothy Hessman of Dodge City, Susan Wozniak of Bella Vista, Ark. and Patricia Hemken of Great Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant daughter, Victoria Rose Folkerts. 

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2022, at Peace Lutheran Church in Albert, with Rhonda Templing, SAM presiding. Interment will be in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery of Albert. Memorials have been designated to Peace Lutheran Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
