HAYS — John A. Pfannenstiel, 63, of Hays, passed away Wednesday, the result of an automobile accident. He was born on January 6, 1947 in Hays to Alois and Domitilla (Befort) Pfannenstiel. He married Rose Ann Rome on November 26, 1971 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria.
Mr. Pfannenstiel graduated in 1965 from Hays High and he was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a farmer and a long time employee of Enersys of Hays as an electrician and mechanic. He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Church and the American Legion both of Hays.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann of the home; two sons, Eric J. Pfannenstiel (Carol) of Great Bend and Brett J. Pfannenstiel (Alexis) of Hays; a daughter, Kristin M. Pfannenstiel of Hays; three brothers, Joseph and Paul of Sacramento and A.J. of Hays; two sisters, Mary Lou Riley of Sacramento and Rosiland Staab of Olathe; a grandson, Westin Pfannenstiel of Hays and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald, a sister, Betty Pfannenstiel, a niece, Lisa Pfannenstiel and his in- laws, Richard and Laura Rome.
Funeral services will be Saturday 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas of Myra Church in Hays. Burial will follow services in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays with military honors by the Hays American Legion and escorted by the Legion Riders.
Visitation will be Friday 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 to 10 a.m. all at Brock’s North Hill Chapel.
A parish wake service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
