GENESEO — Johnetta G. Rolfs, 87, died May 5 at the Ellsworth County Medical Center. Born Jan. 21, 1924, in Rush County, she was the daughter of John and Sarah Scheuerman Kaiser. A 1942 graduate of Otis Rural High School, she then attended Fort Hays State College, receiving her teaching degree. On June 10, 1948, she married Alvin D. "Pete" Rolfs in Otis. He died on Dec. 9, 1995. A longtime resident of Geneseo and Lyons, she was a homemaker and elementary school teacher in Geneseo.

Mrs. Rolfs was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lyons, St. Peter Lutheran Church in Holyrood, Lutheran Women’s Mission League, Music Club in Lyons and the American Legion Auxiliary in Geneseo.

Survivors include three sons, Harland and Claudia Rolfs of Bartlesville, Okla., Dennis and Kathy Rolfs of Lorraine, and Ray Rolfs of Ellsworth; two daughters, Janet Bell of Salina, and Jolene and Ben Amerine of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Leona Krause of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, Trevor and Kim Rolfs of Pratt, Brendon and Megan Rolfs of Garden Plain, Brett and Angie Rolfs and Seth Rolfs, both of Lorraine, Cy and Kiara Rolfs of McPherson, Eric and Lindsey Rolfs of Annapolis, Md., Kevin Rolfs of Norman, Okla., Jason and Alyssa Matteson, Aaron Matteson, and Mandi Bell, all of Fort Collins, Colo., and Ryan Bell of Hutchinson; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Kaiser.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Lyons, with the Rev. Mike Herzberg and Pastor Lloyd Sprick officiating. Burial will be at the Geneseo cemetery.

Friends may visit from 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Plum Creek Plaza in Holyrood or Good Samaritan Society, all in care of the funeral home.
