ELLINWOOD — Keith David Hammeke, 71, died Oct. 24 at Ellinwood District Hospital. He was born July 23, 1941, at Ellinwood, the son of David Fredrick and Frances Sprinker Hammeke. He graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1959, and attended Fort Hays State University. He married Angie Biermann on Aug. 8, 1970, at Colwich. A lifetime Ellinwood resident, he was a farmer.
Mr. Hammeke was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus No. 1187, both of Ellinwood.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Clint Hammeke of Ellinwood; three brothers, Vernon Hammeke and Richard Hammeke, both of Ellinwood, and Robert Hammeke of Rozel; three sisters, Ethel Ringwald of Ellinwood, Alice Fountain of El Dorado, and Eleanor Bauer of Burdett; and five grandchildren. He was preceded by an infant son, James, and two sisters, Kathleen Dauber and Bernice Bryant.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood, with Father Charles Mazouch officiating. Burial will be at the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Calling time will be from 1-6 p.m. Saturday at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Rosary will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Saturday at the church, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph School Endowment, in care of the funeral home.
