LeeRoy A. Legleiter, 78, died Oct. 12 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born July 17, 1934, at Liebenthal, the son of Anton and Genevieve (Schaffer) Legleiter. He married Leota Meier on June 13, 1959, at Hays. A Great Bend resident since 1969, coming from Hays, he was production superintendent for Coronado Oil, retiring in 1999.
Mr. Legleiter was a U.S. Army veteran.  
He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus Council No. 862, Olmitz. He loved to restore old furniture and tinker, being known to be able to fix almost anything.  Above all, he loved God and his family.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Kevin Legleiter and his wife Rebecca of Tulsa, Okla.; seven daughters, Roxann Keenan and her husband Kent of Great Bend, Karla Schartz and her husband Melvin, Jr. “Bud” of Olathe, Colleen Juergensen and her husband Alan of Salt Lake City, Utah, Michelle Schneider and her husband Chris of Olmitz, Lisa Neeland and her husband Steve of Great Bend, Lori Coup and her husband Brent of Clovis, Calif., and Jill Nelson and her husband Rob of Blaine, Minn.; four brothers, Miles Legleiter, Harry Legleiter, Walter Legleiter and Dennis Legleiter; four sisters, Dorthy McCullen, Virginia Kinderkneck, Germaine Degenhardt and Patty Lou Rohr; and 14 grandchildren, Andrew Keenan, Adam Keenan, Michael Schartz, Kate Schartz, Matthew Juergensen, Mason Juergensen, Garret Schneider, Krista Schneider, Tanner Neeland, Allison Neeland, Bryce Coup, Paige Coup, Joshua Nelson, and Ainsley Nelson
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Gerald Legleiter, Wilfred “Fritz” Legleiter, Melvin “Mel” Legleiter, Tony Legleiter, and Donnie Legleiter.
Vigil service with Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 15, at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Reginald A. Urban, officiant. Interment will be at Golden Belt Memorial Park, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
