Marie Schank, 92, died Nov. 29 at her home in Great Bend. Born April 4, 1920 in Rush County, she was the daughter of Frank and Anna (Horacek) Nepereny. On Sept. 14, 1937 she married John W. Schank in Wichita. He died on March 5, 1966. A resident of Great Bend since 1972, coming from Hays, she was a tax clerk for the Barton County Treasurer’s Office, retiring in 1986.
Mrs. Schank was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Hluzek of Sun City, Ariz. and Karen Schank of Great Bend; and one sister, Anna Cipra of Romeoville, Ill. She was preceded in death by one infant son, William Schank; and six brothers, Josef Nepereny, Bohumil Nepereny, James Nepereny, Ed Nepereny, Adolph Nepereny, and Frank Nepereny.
Funeral service with Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. John Grummon officiating. Burial will be at the Golden Belt Memorial Park in Great Bend. Friends may visit from 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home.
