ELLINWOOD — Marilyn Ruth (Schiewe) Carmin, 87, passed away at Woodhaven Care Center on Sunday, January 14th, 2018. Born in Port Clinton, Ohio on September 19th, 1930 she was the daughter of Walter G. & Gertrude V. (Wirtz) SchieWe. After high school she graduated from business school in Fremont, Ohio. Marilyn later married Charles Carmin on September 6th, 1954 in Gypsum, Ohio. Formerly of Marine Corp Base, Pendleton, California, Mrs. Carmin was an Ellinwood, KS resident since 1968 where she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, & the American Legion Auxiliary. She also enjoyed volunteering at the church’s daycare, local nursing homes, and the grade school.
Survivors include husband, Charles Carmin of the home; daughters, Connie (Scott) Mitchum, Barbara (Danny) Petz, Betty (Steven) Richmeier; and son, Michael (Mary) Carmin. Other survivors include 7 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Harold & Norris Schieve
Funeral Service is scheduled for Thursday, January 18th at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, KS with Rev. Tom Thierfelder officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood on Wednesday January 17th from 1-6 PM. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Child Development Center or the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
