HOISINGTON — Marlin Ray Hughes, 51, died Dec. 3, 2012 in Barton County as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was born March 14, 1961 at Norton, the son of Howard and Marian (Bennett) Hughes. He married Alicia Day Rodriguez May 1, 2010 at Ulysses.   He was a train engineer for Watco Inc. Marlin was a Great Bend and Hoisington resident since 1983. He served in the United States Army.  
He is survived by wife Alicia Hughes of the home; one son, Dalton Ray Hughes of Great Bend; one daughter, Stephanie Renee Keenan and husband Matt of San Angelo, Texas; stepdaughter, Jessica Lauren Rodriguez of the home; one grandchild,  Ransom Justice Hardcastle of the home; one brother, Randy Hughes and wife Karen of Tulsa, Okla.; foster brother, Jeff Parsons and wife Michelle of Ardmore, Okla.; two foster sisters, Kim Nollette and husband Tim of Great Bend and Shelley Correll and husband Kent of Spearville; foster father, Larry Parsons of Great Bend; foster mother, Phyllis Parsons of Great Bend; two cousins, Ron Bennett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Sherri Bennett of Boulder, Colo.; and two aunts,  Martha Bennett of Meridian, Iowa and Sharon Bennett of Boulder, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6 at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Savage officiating. Cremation will follow the service with a private family inurnment at a later date. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to  Barton County Boys Home, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
