Mary Bridget Schneider, 92, died Oct. 23 at River Bend Assisted Living.
Born Sept. 18, 1920 on the family farm in Belpre, she was the daughter of John Miles and Agnes Viola (Gibney) Kearney. In 1938, she graduated from Belpre High School. In August 1941, she graduated from St. Rose School of Nursing in Great Bend. On Jan. 6, 1942, she married Marion Joseph Schneider at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. He died on Oct. 28, 1999. A resident of Great Bend since 2003, coming from Albert, she was a registered nurse at St. Rose Hospital, Central Kansas Medical Center and Hoisington Lutheran Hospital, retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Schneider was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Olmitz and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Charles Schneider and his wife Charlotte, Great Bend; and James Randall “Randy” Schneider and his wife Sharon, Eden Prairie, Minn.; a daughter, Rhonda Geralyn Lundquist and her husband Mike, Graham, Wash.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Thomas Kearney; a sister, Viola Margaret Shenefield; and a grandson, Jon Lundquist.
Altar Society Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday followed by a Vigil Service at 7 p.m., both at St. Ann Catholic Church in Olmitz. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with Father Ultan Murphy officiating. Burial will be at the St. Ann Cemetery in Olmitz. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home and after 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
