MANHATTAN – Mary Helen Volkmann, 98, died Feb. 10 at Mercy Regional Hospital, Manhattan. She was born Sept. 6, 1912, at WaKeeney, the daughter of Edward David and Ethel Mae (Dorns) Hobbick.

She married Harley William Volkmann Nov. 19, 1934, at Lyons. He died Sept. 24, 2006.

Mrs. Volkmann was a homemaker and worked for many years at Security State Bank, and was a Great Bend resident since 1944, residing in Manhattan since 2006. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Great Bend.

Survivors include: One son, Bill Volkmann and wife Nancy of Manhattan; one daughter, Chris Foos and husband Gary of Overland Park; three grandchildren, Kathy Foos of Olathe, Stacy Oshel of Paola, and Michael Foos of Mission; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend, with the Rev. Tom Sheldon officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
